Valley Regional Hospital Foundation recently visited the Rehabilitation Unit and Occupational Therapists to see new equipment, purchased with gratitude to donors like you! Added to Unit are four new pieces:

• A Mobile Mechanical Lift to help staff safely transport patients from a chair to a bed. It prevents pressure injuries, improves cardiovascular outcomes, and prevents injuries to staff.

• A TheraBand Wall Station that will impact community outpatient populations by aiding in the rehabilitation to strengthen their upper body.

• A Physio Step MDX Machine that provides cardiovascular exercise. It is used in neurological impairments and for those who undergo orthopedic surgeries with the added safety feature of a swivel seat for safe transfers on and off the equipment.

• A Shuttle Mini Press is a portable leg press that can be used in bed or wheelchair, eliminating transfers. This piece of equipment can provide muscle rehabilitation to both upper and lower body. This is ideal for those recovering and rehabbing from hip replacements, hip fractures, knee replacements, ACL surgery, shoulder displacements and other conditions.

All these new pieces help patients regain mobility in their recovery journey and increase the safety while reducing strain on hospital employees.

THANK YOU, Annapolis Valley. The impact of this equipment is huge here at Valley Regional Hospital and far beyond our walls!
