Debbie Hennigar

Debbie Hennigar is an active volunteer in her lake community and long-standing Foundation board member, having retired from a role in economic development.  Debbie was pivotal in the installation of the Fiber Optic Network from Middleton to Halifax over twenty years ago, which still maintains the high speed internet traffic for the region of the Annapolis Valley.  Debbie is a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed twelve years ago that led her to fundraising projects including producing a Women’s Horseback Rider Charity Calendar for The Lodge That Gives in Halifax.

Shortly after, in 2013, she joined the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation’s Board.  As the incoming President for 2021-2022, she’s most proud of the positive changes she’s witnessed at the Board – moving towards representing a varied set of skills, an inclusion of diverse and passionate members, and dynamic group of individuals working towards assisting the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation in accomplishing their goals.   Debbie expresses the value she finds in volunteering with the Board as, “Helping our hospital contributes to ALL members of our community.  It reaches and improves lives, no matter who they are or what their situation is. In volunteering on the Board, it feels like the best way to serve everyone in my community and to be involved.”
