Strengthening Emergency Care: VRH Nurses Complete Advanced Trauma Training
At the beginning of this year, 15 members from Valley Regional Hospital’s Emergency Unit enhanced their trauma care expertise by completing the Provincial Trauma Course—an accredited, interprofessional training program based on the Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC), with thanks to Foundation funding.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, this hands-on education ensures our team can deliver even higher standards of emergency care to patients across the Annapolis Valley.
Why This Training Matters
Designed for rural healthcare teams, this intensive one-day course combines:
• High-fidelity simulations for real-world crisis response.
• Interactive skills stations to refine life-saving techniques.
• Case-based learning to strengthen teamwork and decision-making.
For a rural hospital like VRH, this training is transformational. It empowers our ER nurses to:
• Respond faster and more effectively to severe injuries.
• Collaborate seamlessly with trauma teams across Nova Scotia.
• Improve outcomes for critically ill or injured patients.
Investing in Our Healthcare Heroes
Continuing education is vital to keeping our frontline teams equipped, confident, and ready for emergencies.
Thank you to every donor who helps our nurses and staff stay at the forefront of medical care. Together, we’re ensuring the Annapolis Valley has a stronger, more skilled emergency response when seconds count.
