With thanks to our donor’s support, the Foundation has purchased ten new wheelchairs for Occupational Therapists to use with the inpatient population at VRH’s Rehab Unit and throughout the building.
These new wheelchairs are designed with modular capabilities to suit the different patient needs. To better support patients while they are in hospital, these chairs have removable attachments, adjustable arms, and cushions — whether it be to support amputations, provide pressure relief for skin integrity issues/pressure sores, stroke patients, and/or patient weight requirements.
More than just a transportation device, this new equipment makes an impact on our patient’s level of function, comfortability, and care, as well as improved safety for our team of healthcare professionals.
