Annapolis Valley, we did it! With the support of our donors, the community, businesses, NSH and employees, service groups and partners, the Foundation is proud to announce that we have updated the Respiratory Therapy Department with new pulmonary function test equipment and spirometers – and you have played a big part in getting here. THANK YOU!
The Foundation, with the Board of Directors, set out in May 2022 to raise $250,000 for the Breathe Well Campaign. The new equipment have been installed and are currently in use at Valley Regional Hospital.
One in five Canadians has serious respiratory disease, such as asthma, COPD, lung cancer, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, and respiratory illness distress syndrome. The Respiratory Therapy department performs pulmonary function tests to over 1800 patients a year, of all ages, from Windsor to Digby in the Annapolis Valley. Use of the new equipment allows for breathing tests to determine lung function for maintenance, monitoring, and pre-surgical purposes to reduce the risk of complications and ensure patients can be discharged safely.
When the ability to breathe is comprised, little else matters. It is with sincere gratitude the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation thanks the Annapolis Valley community for coming together to recognize the need for essential healthcare for all residents. We look forward to continuing to come together in 2023 to help enhance healthcare for the Annapolis Valley!
