Donor Appreciation
The Valley Regional Hospital Foundation relies on the generosity of many individuals, groups and businesses throughout the Valley. Here are some examples of the generous support we receive.
Valley Regional Hospital Auxiliary
The Auxiliary have partnered with the Foundation in many events and projects. Pictured here during the 2010 Festival of Lights ceremony is Ruth-Anne Stirling, President, Valley Regional Hospital Auxiliary. The Auxiliary donated $10,000 to the Festival of Lights.
Gaspereau Valley Fibres donates to VRHF
Sheep Thrills completed a sweater in 9.5 hours– half an hour quicker than last year – placing them 6th in the world! Great job ladies -shearing, spinning and making the sweater in record time! A donation of $560 to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation from the team of eight will support Carey Me In the Home. Thank you and congratulation to the Sheep Thrills Team.
EKM Health Foundation
The EKM Health Foundation has supported a variety of equipment needs in Valley Regional Hospital. Most recently, they provided $15,000 for a glidescope for the Surgical Unit.
Port Williams Health Auxiliary
In 2010, the Auxiliary provided funding to purchase rehabilitation kits for stroke victims. The kits provide tools to allow patients to regain dexterity and memory.
Quilt Project in Memory of Seila (Tiny) White
John White and friends and family put together a quilt in memory of his wife, Seila. They sold tickets on the quilt and donated the proceeds to Our Community Our Health, a joint project of Valley Regional Hospital Foundation and Valley Hospice Foundation.
The Falconer Family

The Falconer family celebrated 30 years in business with an open house and by donating $10,000 to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
The Newcombe Family
Paula Newcombe and her family decided to support Maternal and Child Care with the donation of a digital camera for the unit. Staff use the camera to take photos to provide mementos for families.
As much as possible, we like to recognize and thank all donors in the most appropriate way however we understand some may prefer to remain anonymous.
Donor Bill of Rights
The Valley Regional Hospital Foundation subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights. These rights include:
- To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes;
- To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities;
- To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements;
- To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given;
- To receive appropriate acknowledgement, recognition;
- To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law;
- To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature;
- To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors;
- To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share;
- To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
